After ‘stocky dragon’ discovered in Romania, hundreds of dinosaurs skeletons to come next

Bucharest University paleontologist Vremir Matyas, the fossil hunter who found the ‘stocky dragon’, presented the skeleton of the dinosaur he had discovered in Sebes, Alba County (central Romania) saying during a news conference that there are hundreds of such dinosaur skeletons in the area.

‘This is not the sole relic, there are hundreds of them, but that particularly attracted our attention. We found partial skeletons of herbivorous dinosaurs, we unearthed the biggest terrosaur of the world, which is 16 meters long. All this will be exhibited, Matyas told Agerpres.

He explained that the skeleton discovered in Sebes, and which he nicknamed the ‘stocky dragon,’ is the most complete dinosaur skeleton in Romania and among Europe’s carnivorous dinosaurs.

The Romanian paleontologist also pointed out that about 75 percent of the ‘stocky dragon’ has been found so far, and expressed hope the skull and the missing rests of the tail and a leg would be found soon.

The fossil unearthed in Sebes is 70 million years old and belongs to a new specie of theropoda.
