About a third of Romanian households own bicycles

There were 32.6 bicycles per 100 households in Romania in 2015, up from 30.5 the previous year, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The largest number of bicycles was registered in western Romania, namely 52.4 per 100 households, reports local Agerpres. On the other hand, the lowest number was reported in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, namely 17.4 per 100 households.

Farming households also had a high number of bikes – 46.4 per 100 households.

In terms of motorcycles, their number dropped from 0.9 per 100 households in 2014 to 0.8 last year.

When it comes to durable goods, the number of PCs increased to 47.2 per 100 households last year, from 43.8 in 2014. Some 43.4 of 100 households in Romania were connected to the Internet in 2015, up from 39.1 the previous year.

Moreover, statistics show that there were 165.2 mobile phones per 100 households in Romania last year, and 24.8 landline telephones. The number of radios rose to 53.6 per 100 households in 2015, from 52.5 the year before.

INS data also showed that one in 100 households in Romania owned a black and white TV last year.
