260,000 employees in Bucharest will work in modern offices

17 February 2017

Some 233,000 employees in Bucharest worked in modern office buildings at the end of last year, the highest level recorded in the last three years.

Their number increased by about 30,000 compared to 2015, as new office buildings were finalized. Real estate experts believe that the number will further grow to 260,000 by the end of this year, considering the deliveries announced for 2017.

The office areas Pipera Sud, Barbu Vacarescu-Floreasca, and the west of Bucharest (the Grozavesti-Politehnica area) remained the top three areas in Bucharest based on the number of employees in modern office buildings, according estimates by real estate consultancy firm DTZ Echinox.

At the end of 2016, Pipera Sud had over 45,000 employees in class A offices whereas the number of people working in the Barbu Vacarescu-Floreasca area reached over 40,000. In Western Bucharest, some 33,000 employees were working in new office buildings.

Compared to the previous year, these locations recorded increases in the number of employees, ranging between 20% and 32%.
