Over 120 museums and cultural spaces in Romania join Museums Night 2017

Over 120 museums and cultural spaces in Romania will participate in this year’s edition of Night of Museums, namely 40 in Bucharest and 85 in other cities in the country, according to data the organizers offered to local News.ro.

The event, which reaches its thirteenth edition this year, will take place on May 20.

According to information posted on the event’s website, among the museums in Bucharest that will participate in the event, there are Bucharest Museum – Sutu Palace, the National History Museum, the National Art Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, George Enescu National Museum, Cotroceni National Museum, the Romanian Peasant Museum, the Village Museum, and Antipa Museum.

Other art galleries and memorial houses will also participate in the event.

Around 1,500 museum professionals and researchers in Romania are to protest on May 20, when the Night of Museums takes place. They want the legislation on protection of cultural heritage and museums to be changed, and the wage disparities in museum institutions to be eliminated.
