Some 100,000 households in Romania have no electricity

17 October 2016

A total of some 100,000 households in Romania are currently not connected to the electricity grid, but with the help of the EEA and Norwegian grants, the state will bring electricity in 10,000 of these households next year, said energy minister Victor Grigorescu on Friday.

He added that Romania and Norway would also collaborate in the research and development in the energy field, and the research institutes in the two countries would conclude partnerships.

Norway and Romania signed last Thursday a memorandum for approving the EEA and Norwegian Fund mechanisms. Norway will grant Romania EUR 502 million in the 2014-2021 financial exercise. Compared to the 2009-2014 financial exercise, Romania will get some EUR 200 million more.
